You are inspirational. Thank you for the families you care for, the work you do, the businesses you run, and the good you do every day. You make Minnesota great. I trust you to run your life and make good choices. I hope you will trust me to represent you and to continue to be…
During the 2016 election, I promised health care reform, transportation improvement, and tax cuts. In our historic Senate Majority, we delivered, but we are not done yet!
Health Care: Minnesotans faced historic insurance costs and a destabilized insurance market. We passed nation leading market stabilization and reform so individuals and small businesses will receive relief this year and have more options in the future.
Transportation: We funded roads and bridges without a gas tax or tab fee increase. We eliminated funding for on-going light rail projects. New lanes. Fewer trains.
Tax Cuts: The government had a surplus, and Minnesotans needed their money back. We passed the biggest tax relief in over 20 years. We cut taxes on Social Security and small business. We provided relief to families paying for child care and paying student loans.
More reforms: More auditors within the Department of Human Services to monitor public programs. ~Election reforms for uniform election days. ~Prohibition on drivers’ licenses for illegal immigrants. ~Teacher licensure and hiring reforms empowering schools to choose the best teacher!
After a session of working closely with Governor Dayton, he cut funding for the legislature because he did not like the bills he signed! He wants to renegotiate the bills, but we are not renegotiating. We are in court fighting for the right of the legislature to function in service to our constituents. Most importantly, we are getting ready for the 2018 session with more health care reform and policies that will help grow our economy.
Thanks to your past support, we have accomplished much and look forward to even more success in the 2018 session.
