Obamacare has been a disappointment after promising affordability and better choices, but delivering the opposite. For many in Minnesota, it’s harder than ever to find quality, affordable healthcare.
To make matters worse, we continue to waste taxpayer money on its failures. Another audit recently found 49% of MNsure enrollees were not eligible for the benefits they received, wasting hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.
I introduced a bill (SF2894) that would allow those enrolled in a MNsure plan to have more choices instead of being forced into a healthcare plan at heavy taxpayer expense. I also introduced several bills (SF3307, SF3121, SF1607, SF390) to bring more choices and oversight to MNsure.
The best way to lower health insurance premiums and give people more options is by waiving costly, one-size-fits-all federal mandates. I would support a plan to do that. We should allow Minnesotans to shop for health insurance outside of the state exchange and give consumers more transparency in healthcare pricing.
Minnesota deserves representatives who will get off the sidelines and fight for better healthcare.
